Title: Home For the Holidays
Creative Team: Scott Lobdell (story), Rick Leonardi & Mitch Byrd (pencils), Bud Larosa & Jason Martin (inks), Steve Buccellato (colors), Starkings & Comicraft (letters).
Summary/Review: Not only is the ish pretty good, but it reveals a lot, too. The girls get together to celebrate x-mas (no pun intended) down at Monet's home in Monaco. Here, they discussed when their powers first manifested. So here it is:
Jubilee was bladin' in L.A. with her friend Cynjen (Cynthia Jennifer) and was tearing up the place. She then got cornered in an alley way by two cops, so she went boom, ran away, and cried as she tried to stop her hands from feeling like they're on fire.
M told a complete false, fairy tale-like story but was interrupted by Emplate in her mind. They yelled at each other and he begged for help (he was trapped with thousands of souls...or somethin'). it was more like walking into the middle of a conversation. They discussed things that were completely lost to me. Then he left after she said she wouldn't help.
Paige's was a bit different. After her bro got powers and went off to train in the New Mutants, she figured she was the next Guthrie up for bat at getting mutant powers. So she tried and tried to find her hidden power. Then one night, when she was discouraged at finding nothing, she tore her skin off and she was happy. Go figure.
Ms. Frost's was rather...odd. She was put in a "clinic" by her parents because she heard voices in her head (their voices). Then one day, she figured if she can hear their thoughts, why wouldn't they hear hers? So she made an orderly take her of there, and killing a lot of people to do it.
Also, Mondo's talking to another Irishman. I can already figure out who, but can you?
Quick Thoughts: *sigh* Another small story. It's a durn good thing this is right before the big sucka that it's been leading up to for the past, oh, six months. Still, this one was kinda neat, in that it was a bit informative about the character's past (even Jubilee). I especially enjoyed Emma's little story. The art could have been better, but it wasn't too shabby. Overall, not bad.
